Ster Kinekor .. the sequel

by Rob Stokes

Our good friends over at Ster Kinekor have hit the blogosphere again. When my Technorati watch spat out a “Ster Kinekor” mention, yes I’m now tracking them (at least rudimentarily), I immediately assumed it was regarding the fracas brewing over their new site.

Instead this time one of my favourite members of the South African blogosphere, Rich…! let them have it with a rant in typical Rich…! style because they wouldn’t let him enjoy a cup of coffee.

I love the fact that the consumer now has a voice. There must be hundreds, possibly even thousands of people who read Jo’blog and respect their opinions. Those same smart people now have one extra reason to rent a DVD or go to Nu Metro. If they tell their friends (like I’m doing now) it gets even worse!

Now Rich…! calls a spade a spade but irrespective of whether he’s right or wrong I would still expect to have heard something from Ster Kinekor. If people were thrashing Quirk I would certainly jump in (appropriately J) and hopefully set things straight and lessen the damage. It just makes good business sense. So assuming they would feel the same way, SK are either listening to this conversation and ignoring it, or they don’t know the conversation is happening in the first place. Either way, it’s a dangerous position to be in.

the other day at cinema noveau in cavendish I was allowed to bring a breakfast wrap from kauia in with me (I did ask before i ordered - i think the lady appreciated this). so it is possible! but then again I had this unfortunate experience watching a movie next to this gentlemen who brought in garlic viennas to nibble on during the show. there needs to be some control with what you bring in. but i think judging from Ster Kinekors problems with their website and their ignorance to current web issues, I doubt they will be following these posts.

"blogosphere" - ha! Almost as silly as LOL or ROTFLALMFAO. It's all very well for the consumer to have a voice, but are the suppliers/producers actually listening? Here's hoping we some some kind of responsive (positive/negative) from SK sooner rather than later (or never).

The consumer has a voice, but its the arrogance of the men upstairs if they are actually going to even consider anything that comes out of the web as worthwhile. If it doesn't come wrapped in a study with sample sizes, and an anderson consulting label, its not right.

I had a similar experience after sneeking in (I know, but it was a once off) the colonel's recipe chicken. Much to my surprise!!!! I had people from way down in the middle row turn their heads...guess I should take extra in future.
