Barely three weeks in and suddenly… I’m off! I have had to resign from my internship at
Quirk eMarketing due to the opportunities and developments facing an online venture that I am deeply involved in. It has been
a whirlwind of learning and it is with sadness that I will
bid this fantastic company adieu.
As an intern, I have been taunted, teased, degraded and humiliated. All as a result of getting bowled by
Werner during Friday’s staff indoor cricket practice!
In all seriousness, my decision to leave Quirk is not due to my ageing cricket skills, nor has it got anything to do with the staff or the company.
I am simply pursuing a dream that has been eight months in the making and now requires my fulltime input and dedication.
I have always believed that success is by and large dependent on the intensity of the passion one devotes to any exercise. I have realised that this passion now needs to be channeled into
MyVideo, South Africa’s first video sharing website, in order to grow and develop this exciting venture. I am fortunate enough to work under two leaders at Quirk who understand this commitment.
Janine and
Rob have allowed me to choose this direction and have supported my decision entirely.
There are indeed certain things I shall miss about Quirk. The
first cup of fresh coffee in the morning,
Rob’s exhausting passion for eMarketing,
Santi’s unbelievable
back massages, Carlos’ quirky jokes,
Lyle’s ability to get
free beers,
Riaan’s daily
‘ooh yeah’ exclamation and the
salacious Sarah’s.
There are, of course, many different characters and subtle experiences that make up Quirk and to mention each of them would simply take too long. To all of you,
thanks for making it fun.
Thanks to Janine and Rob for being legendary and to
all the QuirkStars who made me feel welcome and part of the team almost immediately. And to all the readers out there, besides
Rafiq, thanks for not asking me too many intense questions.
There are some
seriously awesome, undercover projects on the go at Quirk at the moment - keep reading to uncover the secrets.
