Wow... Yawn

Microsoft just launched their new operating system, “Vista” with much fanfare. Check out the pic, compliments of Seth’s Blog.

Don’t they look thrilled? Most of the Windows representatives in the picture look like they are about to pass out from boredom (the one actually looks like he died three months ago and has been strapped into his chair for the presentation). And as far as the “Wow starts now” slogan… I have no comment, I may be able to speak about this in a few months but for now I am truly stupefied.

It's been 5 years since they launched XP and I honestly don't know one person who is excited about Vista. The Cape Town QuirkStation is comprised of four Linux users, five Mac worshipers (most of the design team not surprisingly) and the rest still using Windows.

It will be interesting to see how this changes over the next few years (especially with Mac prices coming down). In my opinion (I change over from PC to Mac 6 months ago) you’ve gotta try a Mac, even if you're not a designer.

Okay, I see what you mean about their level of excitement, no argument there! I do however believe that the past time / sport of Microsoft / Windows bashing is becoming very yesterday. Currently I use only open source mail, spreadsheet, word processing and browser products. My only Microsoft product is my XP OS. Having said that, it does not mean that I have put out a contract on William Gates' life or that I go out of my way at every opportunity to tell the world that his name spells 666, the anti Christ. There are billions of Microsoft / Windows users and without them no online business will survive for even one day ( ...one hour?) Sure, comment, share and give input, but try to loose the " death to Windows" attitude.
