The Countdown to PR2.0 Begins

by Sarah Manners

So it’s Monday again (wish they wouldn't sneak up so unexpectedly) and I was just scanning through and amending my list of things to do, see and think about doing this week. I was totally blown away when I realised that next week is conference week! This month just seems to be flying by.

While constructing my list (for those of you who don’t know me, my life is ruled by lists and pink post-its reminding me to finish that document, read that article, be nice to boyfriend, make that phone call, etc ad nauseum) I found an interesting post written by Marcel Goldstein, which essentially summarises why Quirk eMarketing in association with PR guru, Sally Falkow is hosting the WebPR+  conference next week.

In the article Marcel Goldstein, senior VP in Ogilvy PR Worldwide's Washington, D.C. office says “Soon I believe offline media relations will become passé for PR professionals”. Bold statement, but one that has been echoed by many over the past few months. While no one is negating the importance of traditional offline Public Relations activities – the days of PR’s operating in a solely offline environment are rapidly diminishing.

If you’re interested in learning more about the evolution of Public Relations as well as how to introduce your PR strategy to web 2.0 and to effectively monitor and be responsible for your online reputation this is the conference for you. There are a couple more seats left at both the Cape Town and Johannesburg venues so book today to make sure you don’t miss out.
Check out the WebPR+ conference site to learn more or visit the Wiki to see who’s coming.

Hope to see you all there! I’m off to scribble on a few more post-its!
Happy Monday!
