Facebook Developer Garage

On Tuesday night some of the QuirkStars attended the South African Facebook Developer Garage - Cape Town. It was the first of its kind in South Africa and featured a number of speakers on the topic of how to develop, market and make money out of Facebook applications.

If you are like Lyndi and believe that Geeks are the new cool, then the River Club where the “garage” was held was definitely frozen over.

The Speaker line up included:
I thought each presentation was relevant, really interesting and I’m thoroughly impressed to see what our South African geeks are doing in the new realm of Facebook applications. With Microsoft recently having purchased a 1.6% share in Facebook for $240 million, I think we can expect a lot more from Facebook (and its applications) in the future. I’m looking forward to the QuirkGeeks applications to come (J.P – were you taking notes?)

Thanks to Moodia for the delicious half time snacks, www.wine23.co.za for the social lubricant and all the speakers for some excellent food for thought.

I think we have so much ahead of us with FaceBook and other social networking sites.

The geeks are great to get things out of the dark and into the light but I think it is we marketers who will make them fly.

Thanks for that Facebook update.

Well, as for the geeks, now is their time to shine. :)

Yes, I was. The Merlot / Cab Sav was delightful.
