For all of you that have a Facebook account, I urge you to join the Blog Networks Application. I know every application tries to persuade you that it is different from the others, but the Facebook Blog Application is actually useful.
It is a Facebook based aggregator that is capable of reading atom and RSS feeds online or offline for your favourite blogs. Users can subscribe to their favourite blogs using either the blog search function, or by entering in the exact URL of the RSS or Atom feed. New posts from your feeds are then shown on your application homepage. This list is ordered by date and category. Items can also be rated on their content and this can be shared with other Facebook users.
This application brings a combination of social networks and daily blogging all to one place. Think of it this way, if you have a couple of favourite blogs that keep up to date, and if you spend a lot of your time on Facebook then why not combine these two activities? Instead of spending a lot of time thinking about how your 'ex' looks better, why not feed your mind by engaging in up to date commentary or news on a subject you've subscribed to.
Other cool features:
- It lets you be part of a social network for bloggers on Facebook.
- You can put your personal blogroll on your profile with thumbnail images.
- You can highlight your favourite blogs and find others with similar interests on Facebook.
- You can connect with other bloggers and be part of discussions on specific topics.
- It allows you to stay up to date with news and commentary.
- It can be used as an avenue to get more people subscribing to your personal blog.
To add this Facebook application, all you have to do is search for it or click here. You can then subscribe to your favourite blogs and begin your journey through the world of blogs on Facebook. So what are you waiting for? Go add the app and subscribe to the GottaQuirk feed!
