My favourite thing about the Web is that it’s a great resource for people with mild ADD – and ofcourse whole companies have been launched because of this, my favourite being Stumble Upon.
At Quirk we do a lot of education, and sometimes the kids need to run outside and play, so this is my play pen.
I’m going to start sharing a few of the distracting treats I discover. No rhyme, no reason. Just a few observations to spice up your life (sorry).
The Whale Hunt
http://labs.digg.com/: View really interesting visualisations of Digg and the stories that are getting the most love.
http://thisissand.com/: We forget that a good idea is often so simple. Online needs to be sticky. Not complicated.
http://www.thewhalehunt.org/: Ok… so sometimes complicated can be made to seem simple. I think we should be taking people on more journeys. Browsers are like tickets to places, and the destination has to be worthwhile.
http://www.compfight.com/: A fantastic search tool for Flickr images. Great if you are tracking down images for your own use (search by CC licences).
Digg Labs - Swarm
http://www.wefeelfine.org/: You can quantify reputation…and perhaps emotion too (thanks Sarah A).
http://blip.fm/invite/Mattmanland: The music version of Twitter. The most awesome way to discover new music. I’m hooked. Follow me and introduce me to some tunes (I need to add a few more tracks).
I’d like to make this a regular feature so please respond in the comments section if you’d like to contribute an awesome Internet distraction (or next big thing).
Bye!
Matt.

NewsMaps is also pretty cool - makes a map of Google News http://www.marumushi.com/apps/newsmap/ .
