I’ve just got back from our SA office and it’s great to be back in London with its creative buzz. This week’s finds are like my head at the moment – a bit muddled. But like any muddled brain, there are some gems inside - I promise!
http://www.saveyoursensible.com/ is a glorified campaign to get you to install a Facebook app that allows you to feed a virtual pet with a particular brand of juice. I’ve included it only because the intro vid is fantastic and made me laugh. The campaign sucks from a marketing perspective – the SEO, Social Media Optimisation, pretty much everything is, unfortunately, very poorly done.
http://wordle.net/ is a great mash up of nice design (typography) and tag clouds that you can create yourself. Check the one for Quirk SearchStatus above.
http://www.uniqlo.com/merino/ is the Japanese clothing giant’s new microsite and is a great example of navigation that uses a really simple interface that is actually based on consumer needs. The most well thought out things always present as the most simple.
http://thegreatschlep.com/site/index.html is doing the rounds on the creative and political blogs at the moment. Niche Marketing with a great big (controversial) idea.
The Facebook pirate language thing… where do I start? I secretly think Tim (or ‘Head Pirate’ as his business card reads) is a developer for facebook and this is his doing. Just go to the bottom left navigation (right at the bottom) where you can choose your language and select ‘English (pirate)’ on the menu. It’s so ridiculous it’s made me like Facebook again.
I am also really enjoying Crackunit at the moment and I couldn’t help but sharing this post, if only to make Zee and all you Techno Vikings happy.
Finally, some pure fun and a little brain stimulation.
Have a great weekend and please feel free to send me your favourite distractions.
