Born and brought up in Nairobi, Kenya, my path to discovering what would soon become my passion wasn’t exactly a straightforward one. It took everything from working as a light aircraft maintenance apprentice to being a certified technician in an IT company, to finally recognise that it was the Internet that really held my fascination and presented me with opportunities and endless possibilities.
My journey began with Web Design and Development training in Bangalore, India at Asset International. What was meant to be a six month course quickly evolved into two of the most influential years of my career. On coming back to Kenya, I found my calling within the tourism industry and to date my heart still beats that little bit faster every time I have the opportunity to work on a tourism based project. Having worked for a few years in Kenya, I was fortunate enough to visit South Africa during the annual tourism Indaba which opened me up to a whole new world of possibilities and resulted in me moving to South Africa to continue my career.
Having primarily freelanced over the years, I have developed an interest in understanding usability, web creativity, conceptualisation, branding online and user experience. In working with a number of agencies and companies across Africa, I have been exposed to a number of ways that businesses use the Internet and the methods that agencies use to deliver projects from simple HTML websites to ecommerce applications, database driven websites, HTML mailers and online flash design.
Quirk eMarketing is the one company that I feel actually understands Online Marketing and has successfully managed to establish an effective agency within a rapidly evolving industry. Between the knowledge and enthusiasm of the QuirkStars and the clients that Quirk proudly facilitates it wasn’t a hard decision to give up working for myself. I hope to continue working online and playing my part in contributing to the greatest platform of our time – the Internet.

Welcome Yasin! Great to learn a bit about you, and was cool to meet you last week.
Your Internet love will certainly fit in well. :)
