I can’t help it, I always click on the “Election '08” icon when I’m surfing the latest virals. No one does controversy like Americans and with the budgets they have, the virals are always impressive and entertaining. Throw in a few political candidates, a celebrity or two and a couple of pop culture references and I’m hooked.
My first choice for this week’s viral was an awesome clip from an upcoming Simpson’s episode where Homer tries to vote for Obama. Long story short, the voting machine refuses and keeps converting his vote to one for McCain and eventually, in true Simpson’s style, it eats him (don’t worry kids, the fat yellow guy is indestructible). Seems everyone and their animated side-kicks are hopping on the Obama-train and getting involved in this election. Unfortunately, YouTube had to pull the clip due to a copyright violation with 20th Century Fox, but keep a look out for it in the coming weeks.
My second choice for this week’s viral is a little less humorous, but just as effective. A plethora of big name celebrities have joined forces to encourage people to register and vote. While not explicitly taking a side, it’s hard to believe that these people are not on the Obama team, with many of them featuring in previous virals that support his campaign. The viral tries the age-old trick of reverse psychology – don’t vote. Basically, if you don’t care, don’t bother, but on the other hand…
Its main appeal is the incredible names that appear from Halle Berry to Jennifer Aniston and Leo. And it is spreading like wildfire online, whilst encouraging some interesting debates. Many people are offended – citing that these celebrities are insulting us “regular people” by implying that no one knows that they actually need to register in order to vote. Other people love that more celebrities are finally using their insane power for some real good.
Even if politics hold no interest for you, it’s worth watching. If not just for Sarah Silverman’s line asking you to spread the message of voting until it becomes “rampant like herpes…but positive…”

All those 5 friends, sounds like a pyramid scheme to me. It's not to be trusted, besides I don't have 5 friends and I am not American
