Advent Conspiracy

In going with the spirit of the giving nature of Christmas, the current realities of the Cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe and the global economic crisis, I think this viral is most fitting - not to mention brilliant. Not to put damper on the festive season, but the Cholera outbreak is unfortunately a reality and a serious issue that most of us have seemed to have missed, including Zimbabwe’s very own Robert Mugabe.

I myself am guilty of spending tons of money on useless gifts that serve no purpose every year. This viral has certainly made me blush and has weighed down heavily on my conscience.

This year is a little different as the global economic crisis has impacted on consumerism, forcing people to spend less. But have you noticed we only spend less when we have less? Clean water is a precious commodity which the average income earner tends to take for granted. People need to realise that together (I know its lame, but it’s true) we can make a difference.

So this year when you go out to do your Christmas shopping, take a minute to think about the people that don’t have water, homes, money, food or clothing. Spend less on gifts and give more to those who really need it.

Very good post, Tammy. We really could all make a difference in this world if we wanted to and it really starts in our own homes first!
