Bill Shannon for Visa

Advertising has always fascinated me, and in my younger days, I was a sucker for those fluffy-bunny-tug-on-the-heartstrings ones the likes of which Volkswagen and Wimpy used to screen. I thought I was alone though.

This translates to there being two things that I like about this viral. The first is that it shows that there are people in the world other than me who like super cool ads enough to download them off YouTube and watch them in their spare time. (Yes, yes, it’s old news, I know.)

The other thing that’s cool is, of course, Bill Shannon’s awesomeness. His performance in this ad for Visa is pretty outstanding. For those of you who don’t know already, Bill Shannon was born with a degenerative hip condition and as you’ll see when you watch the clip, has learnt to dance and skateboard on crutches.  It’s sheer genius.

mm, brings up the age old question, awesome ad, got our attention, but didn't convert a potential client. So its value is...

I may not need a VISA now... but maybe one day I will and then I'll remember this add. Advertising isn't only about conversion... It is also about Brand building and awareness... Now I know that VISA got a new catch phrase connected to their name and the add did a fab job in support of that.
