There are certain sites that you should be following if you are a designer - whether it be to follow up on current design trends, stay on top of all design related news or just to see what other designers are up to.
Below I have listed 10 must read design blogs that I follow on a daily basis. I am pretty sure that you have heard of some of these, but hopefully you will find one or two new ones. Enjoy.
1. Smashing Magazine
If you don’t follow Smashing Magazine you are really missing out. A weblog totally dedicated to web developers and designers, they supply tons of in-depth design articles to meet all of your design needs.
This is an extremely well known and beautifully designed blog. Veerle makes use of dark layout with a very colourful scheme. The result is impressive and the positioning of site elements extremely well thought-out. A creative and inspirational blog that covers a multitude of design related topics.
3. Abduzeedo
Abduzeedo is a blog about the world of design. It is stylish, readable and clean. At first glance this site doesn’t look like a blog at all. It is filled with amazing tutorials and inspirational posts.
4. Ten Thousand Things
Juanma Teixidó, who is a Graphic/Web Designer, is the author of Ten Thousand Things. It is the home of his blog as well a portfolio of projects that he’s worked on over the last 11 years.
5. PSDTuts
PSDTUTS is a blog/Photoshop site made to house and showcase some of the best Photoshop tutorials around. Tutorials are published not only on how to produce great graphics and effects but also to explain them in a friendly and approachable manner.
6. Design You Trust
Design You Trust is a daily design blog and community, full of new design trends, news and events, great design portfolios, young design bloods, design articles, photographs, fashion, creative advertisements, architectural inspirations, video design and hand-picked design stuff from all over the globe. This is, by far, my personal favourite.
7. Behance Network
Behance Network is the best artist/designer/illustrator network that I have had the opportunity to join. Not only is the quality of the people involved in it quite high, but the platform is also great to use. A free platform for the world’s leading professionals.
8. Digital Farm
A great blog to keep you up to date on the latest in the design world. The site design was brainstormed and then conceptualised in Photoshop by South African born Mark Forrester.
9. Design Shard
Design Shard has only been around for a little over a month and they are already making waves in the design community. The purpose of Design Shard is to produce a valuable resource for designers ranging from design tips, inspiration to free resources.
10. Freelance Switch
Freelance Switch is a site targeted at freelancers within the industry. Whether you’ve been freelancing for years, have just started or are considering making the switch, this is the place to get all the information and support you need.

These are all great blogs, not only for designers but for anyone interested in the online world.
