Ok, before I start talking about this viral I have to add a disclaimer - although I like Dave Matthews' music - for some reason his live stuff always impresses me more than his studio albums. I would not call myself a fan.
Today's viral tries to come across as completely spontaneous and natural, but unfortunately to me feels a bit staged. For example Rob Cavallo (Dave's producer) tells the supposed 15 fans that they can't bring their cell phones into the studio and that "If any of this shit ends up on the Internet I will find you..." - hang on a minute, aren't I watching this on the Internet? Why are there professional looking subtitles if this is not meant to be on the Internet? Why is this on the Dave Matthews Band TV channel on Youtube?
I guess what I'm saying is that the concept behind the video is to give a taster, teaser or enticing audio/visual tit-bit to excite consumers ahead of the release of Dave's next album: "Big Whisky and the Groogrux King". It probably does that extremely well - if you are a huge fan of The Dave Matthew's Band. However, if you are not a fan I can't see this being too exciting - I mean breaking into full dance in the studio? Surely no one does that. Maybe I'm being a bit too judgmental. What do you think?

I dunno if it was ever meant to be a viral video but it's great for fans to get to see a sneak peek. I dig the video, and Dave's face when the fans start dancing is just classic.
