The Game - Pleading to the Internet

by Katharina Scholtz

Actors from a TV show called The Game are making a direct plea to the public to help them save their show. They want you to blog about their plight to stay on air, and intend to reach 2 million visitors to their website. I find the plea interesting (if a little desperate) but the video itself to be too long. Having said this, it's sitting on more than 39 000 views after having been up for 3 days. The video just reinforces that audience interaction lives online.

Interesting tactic but not new. My favourite show Jericho was brought back for 3 seasons by the online efforts of the fans after CBS wanted to cancel after the 1st season. Great to see that online efforts do make a difference BUT the economic resession over the world is not very helpful to the cause

No I suppose it isn't. I guess we'll see this kind of thing happening more often - with networks wanting proof of eyeballs. I'm curious to see if this works out for them.
