With the ‘mockumentary’ production style and the same dry and witty humour as The Office without the talking heads, this viral for the already popular BBC4 Today Show has been viewed many times all over the globe – and a lot of the resounding publicity focuses on the ‘viral or online advert’ debate.
Hailing from the Cape Town QuirkStation, I wasn’t familiar with this show or the characters involved – hair, makeup and costumes seemed normal until I realised The Today Show was, in fact, a radio show.
To Viral, or Not to Viral
Brendan Cooper reckons, “viral is an effect, not a strategy”, which sums up the conversations Kat and I often have… this is not to say that ‘viral marketing’ is it’s own contradiction, or exists if only accidentally, but without the ‘effect’ you’re just another n00b on YouTube.
...chicken or egg, I’d definitely tune in to the Today show and check it out after watching this viral. Joke landed.
