What People Do to Get Into Quirk

by Katharina Scholtz

2009/07/23

We run an internship program that trains bright young things (as my mother calls them) in eMarketing. We like to think it also helps to develop our ever so lovely local talent pool. We get a lot of excellent applications but we recently received one that was particularly entertaining. It contained just the right amount of cheese and clearly a lot of effort.

So, Mr Andrew Kirkby, we are about to make you (a little) famous. Enjoy:

If you’re interested in interning at Quirk, we are currently looking for applicants for our Cape Town, London and Johannesburg offices. The internship runs for 3 - 6 months and provides you with some experience of all the eMarketing tactics (we are full service after all).  We are interested in graduates from all backgrounds – what we do emphasise is a genuine love for the Internet.

You can get more details and apply here.

P.S. It doesn’t hurt to get creative. We all like to be entertained.

After having done 3 different internships, including 2 at traditional agencies - this is by far the most interactive, challenging and interesting one I've been involved in.

The fact that it still motivates me to get up every morning must say something! I say it kicks royal... butt.

I mean, I had to become the number one pop phenomenon in the country before I felt like I was ready for Quirk :o

Awesome.

Well done, Andrew!

Love it! Especially the p0rno music. :)

Good on ya Andrew. Hopefully you'll survive tribal council and get in...

Quirk, I think you might have found your video blogger!

"Just the right amount of cheese" Haha! Thought the dramatic walking into frame + plane flying across the screen might have been too much! Thanks guys!! :)

It takes a little craziness and some creativity to get into Quirk's internship program. After spending a week in the office as a temp receptionist (dressed in 1940's gear complete with hat and gloves) I applied with a CV themed around a teenage crush on Quirk... there was also a vintage Valentines Day card sent a few weeks later! But what I really think got me in were the Quirk branded cupcakes. Yes, traditional sucking up still works.

I'm with Emma on this one. I did an internship at a large traditional agency myself, and I felt like more of a nuisance than anything else.

Conversely, at Quirk I learn something new every day, and I get to bask in the glow of dozens of s3x3h people while I'm at it.

I still think both Carlos and Rob must have been on something to allow a reprobate such as myself through the doors, but I'm honoured to be here.

Very nicely done Andrew... I must say, that looks like it must have taken you a long time, but worth every little bit of effort. Keep up the good work and im sure this has put your foot into the door nicely for the internship

Hi Adrian, he didn't forget, we just blocked it out when we put it on the blog so that we wouldn't be giving his number to the world..

Andrew,

Congratulations on your Virtual CV presentation, it was very inspirational, and your personally presenting it was courageous.

I think the plane idea was part of the drama, I loved how it transported the viewer with you....

well done.
