The Almighty QuirkStars vs Media 24 20FourLabs:
Amidst our busy schedules, the QuirkStars always find the time to let loose - especially on the cricket pitch! In recent weeks, Quirk has been challenged to a few all-out cricketing duels.
We began our cricketing conquest in a match against Media 24 20FourLabs. After two grueling practice sessions the boys from Quirk were ready and raring to take them on. The action cricket match took place on a blistery cold Tuesday evening on the 7th July - check out the video below:
The Almighty QuirkStars vs. Saatchi AtPlay:
Within a month, the Almighty QuirkStars were inundated with challenges from various firms. Saatchi AtPlay were the first to step up to the plate and make an audacious decision to take on our awesome team.
Similar to Robbie Dean’s Wallabies, the Almighty QuirkStars made 4 changes to the side, bringing in the likes of Grant Mclachlan, Jean du Plessis, Scott Gray and Cape Town’s favourite son, Shaun Oakes. The team was not intimidated by these changes, as between the 8 members, we had 18 years of cricketing experience.
The QuirkStars won the toss and decided to bowl first. An unusual decision, however we were extremely confident with our bowlers. Despite this, Saatchi got off to a rollicking start with an opening stand of 30. After a detailed and passionate speech (similar to speeches in movies like Varsity Blues and Rocky) from yours truly, Quirk fought back, only conceding another 9 runs in the second pair! Rob got 5 scalps in this pairing and reduced our opponents to 39 runs. This game gradually went back in the favour of Saatchi when they scored 29 runs in the 3rd pairing. Not unnerved by this, Quirk came back once again only allowing our challengers 17 runs in the final pairing. Saatchi total: 85 - a reachable target!
Shaun's ability to leave the ball is perhaps the most unique feat any cricketer dreams to achieve as it was done with style and grace. Scott showed us his cricketing prowess by cover driving the ball, just the way Bishops taught him (click here for a famous Bishops cricketer). They managed to take our score to 100 on 2 occasions, but due to a run out in the last ball of the innings, the team total was 98. The man of the match was awarded to our brave captain, Rob Stokes, for his awesome innings of 24 and taking 5/-5 - all while playing with an injury. Well done!
Quirk is due to play many cricket fixtures during the course of the season. If you want to get involved (i.e. challenge our winning streak) just drop us an email and we can set it up!

LOL, hard to argue with the video evidence.
A few unlucky shots here and there, and it would have been a different game. C'mon admit it Stokes.
We were in it right until then end... i mean until u surpassed us by 100 runs :-)
Rematch? 2 weeks from now. Winner takes all.
