Search Status

For those of you not in the know, SearchStatus is a specialised SEO plugin created with the needs of professional search marketers in mind. Using its vast array of features you can check everything from website source code to the link and traffic importance of a page, allowing you to analyse how any and every website in the world is performing.

So, without further ado, let’s get down to business – the full SearchStatus 1.31 changelog is as follows:

1. Show other domains on this IP: right-click ‘q’ on your SearchStatus toolbar, scroll down to ‘show other domains on ip’ and a new window will open with a list of all the domains linked to the current IP.

This feature comes in handy when checking if multiple domains are hosted on the same server. The host can suffer search engine penalties if interlinking sites are found to originate from the same IP address – particularly if this linking strategy is commercially motivated – so when doing SEO it’s important to take this into account.

2. Check rankings for HTTPS URLs:  to do this, go to options, privacy settings, and remove HTTPS from the excluded URLs field.

This feature is useful in instances that the user wants to check the ranking on a secure https URL:  for example, on a banking site or eCommerce payments portal.

3. Refresh a site’s ranking by left-clicking on the ranking bar: This is useful if you suspect the site ranking may be stale.

4. Show Alexa search keywords: right-click on the Alexa ranking bar and select show keywords. This will take you to an Alexa page with a list of the top keywords driving traffic to the current domain.

5. Option to hide the canonical button in the URL bar: go to options and untick the ‘show canonical link bar in URL’ button.

The canonical link button clashes with some browser themes, so the option to turn it off is useful if you run into issues.

Fixed:

  • Slow startup times fixed on some installs
  • Relative canonical URLs.
  • Bug on closing Options dialog in some cases

Thanks, Mark. That's great to hear!

Although all credit should go to Craig - SearchStatus is his baby and he just keeps making it better. :)

Thanks, Tim,

I just got a new laptop - downloaded Firefox and the latest Firefox update is not compatible with Qurik. I love Quirk -- which I hadn't downloaded the most recent version of Firefox.

Hey lois

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quirk SearchStatus? If you do a clean install, it should work no problem.

Let me know how this goes. :)

I'm finding SearchStatus really useful, thank you.

I'm confused though - what does the "canonical button in the URL bar" look like? Mine is set to display, but maybe it clashes with IdenticaBar, which places a button to the right of the green "go to" arrow.

Using Firefox 3.63. Thanks again!
