Canv-as.com is at the forefront of cutting-edge Web Design and innovation in eCommerce. This online poster store allows you to customise your own unique artworks in a virtual 3D modelled house. Essentially, you get to become a virtual interior decorator. It 's almost similar to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, with the added benefit of no Ty Pennington.

The website was created by Inkod Hypera, one of Israel’s leading UI and Web Design companies. The actual poster designs come from a studio in Northern Israel called Canvas, led by designer Judea Azoulay.
The site provides a platform for selling the posters while showcasing the versatility of the product. Posters can be customised from templates, with themes ranging from Abstract and Brush to Mystique and Typography, allowing users to change colours. With the site’s seamless functionality and simplistic design, you can enter virtual rooms, including the bedroom or living area, and hang posters on the wall by simply dragging and dropping the poster into the area you desire.
However, while the Canv-as.com offers clear benefits and originality, there are also flaws. Firstly, the site chows bandwidth faster than Rosie O’Donnell eats pies. If you are running a 512 kb/s connection or anything slower, it would probably be quicker to drive down to your local art dealer, purchase a piece of canvas and paint it yourself. However, if you have adequate broadband connection speed, then the user experience is sublime.

Secondly, although it’s great hanging posters on walls in a virtual home, this is not your home. Unless your house is an elongated virtual rectangle, with lime green sofas, minimalist decor and a 24-hour housekeeper who never leaves a book out of place, you aren’t going to be getting any sense of how these posters are going to look above your Mantel. However, it does create a unique user experience, and it definitely helps to sell the product.
Canv-as.com offers the perfect blend of self-design, website technology and home. It introduces users to a new dimension of eCommerce, making buying posters online engaging and easy. The site was even featured as ‘Site of the day’ on Favourite Website Awards (FWA), receiving its deserved recognition from a design perspective. However, you would have to ask the folks at Inkod Hypera if canv-as.com is achieving a good conversion rate. So what are you waiting for? Become a fan on Facebook, or check out www.canv’as.com and enjoy this unique interactive decorating experience yourself.
