Silicon Cape held their second networking event last night at the Old Biscuit Mill in Cape Town. The evening boasted a rockstar line-up of motivational speakers, stand-up comedy and social networking centered around technology, entrepreneurship and all things "geek".
Besides the bar queue taking longer than my 512kb/s connection takes to stream TedTalks, the evening proved to be a massive success. Quirk was there to document the event, so in case you missed it, here are some videos of the speeches from the evening. The rest of the speeches and interviews will be up early next week, so watch this space!
Justin Stanford: Co-founder of Silicon Cape, Justin Stanford updates us on what's happening with the initiative.
Christine Moon from Google, Silicon Valley. Google is on a mission to find places in South Africa and Africa to start incubators. Christine talks about Google's plans for the African continent, and what's up Google's mammoth sleeve.
Brett Commaille from InVenFin: CEO of InVenFin Venture Capital, Brett has been on both sides of the table, providing and seeking finance. Brett shares with us what ingredients investors seek out in entrepreneurs, and some key hints when seeking finance.
Rob van Vuuren, Comedian: Although he may not necessarily be a "geek", Rob describes himself as a "Twitterholic" and a 'Facebook slut.' Either way, he is one funny guy, and in this clip he entertains the Silicon Cape audience with his poetic rendition of Usher's, 'Love in this Club.'
Look out for Jacqui Buchanan, co-chair of the San Francisco-based SAABC, and interviews with key members of the Silicon Cape initiative up early next week! For more information on Silicon Cape, please visit www.siliconcape.com.
