The growth of Social Media is often discussed in terms of how it connects people in increasingly useful ways. The recruitment industry is benefiting from this as well, evident in the recruiter’s search for talent.
From ZDNet Survey shows influx of companies using social media networks for recruiting (29 May 2009)
- 76% of companies surveyed plan to invest more in employee referrals
- 72% plan to invest more in recruiting through social networks
- 80% of companies are planning to use social networks to find or attract candidates
- LinkedIn use grew from 80% in 2008 to 95% in 2009
- Facebook use grew from 36% in 2008 to 59% in 2009
- Twitter ranked third at 42%
Additionally, recruitment and human resource professionals are using a variety of online sites to research candidates:
- LinkedIn (76%)
- search engines (67%)
- Facebook (44%)
- Twitter (21%)
