Volkswagen Fast Lane, Driven by Fun

Ah, ze Dschoermans and their cars. Volkswagen has once again come up with a very successful online campaign to keep their loyal customer base (and others) aware of and involved in their marketing efforts. This particular video, entitled “The Fast Lane” was so successful that it received over one million views on YouTube after having been online for just 11 days!

This follows on from their previously well-received campaign, The Fun Theory, created by VW Sweden last year. It is obviously a well-thought out transition from their offline ambient activation to an online viral – talk about two for the price of one! The series of ads was “dedicated to everyone who loves to go beyond the regular, who is curious for new stuff and who simply enjoys to speed it all up a little.” In my opinion, a remarkable marketing campaign that would brighten my day like this one would get a double high five from me! What do you think? Is this slip ‘n slide Ayoba or what?
