IKEA showed us recently what happens when loads of cats are let loose in a store, but since 2011 marks their 60th anniversary, they decided to step it up a notch and take things outside by getting super talented creatives, Jenny McCracken and Anton Pulvirenti to create 3D chalk art. Aussies flocked to Circular Quay in sunny Sydney to have fun with the optical illusion of an IKEA kitchen, balancing children and cutlery and skate boarding over counter tops! What’s even better is that all the utensils featured in the image and as props are straight from the catalogue.
They also strengthened this campaign pre-event by sending out the iconic IKEA catalogue via post and print and creating clever TV spots. Overall, I give them the thumbs up for their online and offline efforts, especially when it comes to consumer involvement - what do you think?
