I haven’t done this in a while (write a Site of Note post, that is) and had to really dig deep into the brain banks... ‘Cause I’m a Developer - and with HTML5 on the rise - I decided on website that make exceptional use of this markup language.
OK, I admit, Sketchpad might not be an actual website, but it uses a lot of new HTML 5 functionality. Check it out, enjoy!
So… what is Sketchpad?
It’s basically an online version of Paint v60. Yes, I know this doesn’t exist and that’s exactly my point: It’s like Paint on crack. Sketchpad is a lot more advanced and allows you to do a bit more than just draw random lines...
Sketchpad was developed by Mugtug, who have also developed another online photo editing “app” called Darkroom. This “app” allows you to edit an image (whereas Sketchpad allows you to actually create one).
I believe many people want to edit their images or photos; but simply can’t afford programs like Photoshop (which can be pretty darn costly!) These online “apps”, if you can call them that, are the solution to those who want to get a bit creative in their own time without having to fork out on hoity-toity editing software. They allow you to fool around with your pics, save your edits and, basically, make whatever changes you’d like!
Not only do these sites make great use of HTML5, but I also think it’s a cool concept and can be very useful when the need arises. Give it a whirl and have some fun unleashing your inner artist!
