Let’s face it. No one’s born a writer – even the greatest of the great had some kind of inspiration, practice or resources. Below is a list of links - from books, to blogs to tools and tests for you to enjoy.
I’ll ease you into it with this little goosebump-giving clip that illustrates the radical power of words.
Bookshelf besties:
Smoke and Mirrors By Tony Koenderman: “a Book of Quotations that Doubles as a Handbook for Ad Copywriters”. This little book covers both advertising and related topics with more than 1 600 quotes gathered in these pages which include the opinions of national figures from Winston Churchill to Franklin D Roosevelt, and advertising men from David Ogilvy to Rosser Reeves.
Hey Whipple, Squeeze This By Luke Sullivan: “A guide to creating great ads”. This number takes a look back into the history of advertising (the good, the bad and the ugly). It covers getting into a career in advertising as well as a real-look at today’s ad agencies. Available for free download.
Let’s get (re)SOURCY:
- CopyBlogger Blog – Online marketing and writing advice from a variety of sources/writers. Good length, well written and like a bite-sized mini cheddar, very easy to digest. An example of a great article is Copywriting Essentials from A to Z.
- CopyRanter Blog– A quirky, albeit refreshing look at advertising to remember not to take life advertising too seriously.
- Letting Go of the Words: Writing Web Content that Works By Janice (Ginny) Redish – Great if you write on the Web for a living.

Testing… TESTING… Wan, tu, thrie:
• Test your grammar skills… go on, do it.
• Are you a grammar Ninja?.... Well, are you?
