If you spend as much time online as we do here at Quirk, you would’ve surely stumbled upon some sort of coverage of the now ‘famous’ Jeb Corliss.

Corliss made headlines this week when his BASE jump from Table Mountain turned into every thrill seeker’s worst nightmare. And let’s be honest, he is extremely lucky to be alive.

As with most death-defying events, there happened to be a cameraman accompanying the daredevil and he just happened to immortalise the accident on film, for all to see.

The video received over 50 000 views in one day. Towards the end of the week, it was in the 300 000s.

Corliss seems to be obsessed with the concept of human flight, and is known worldwide for his BASE jumps.

The 35 year old has completed several successful BASE jumps, including jumps from the Eiffel Tower, in France; the Golden Gate Bridge, in the United States; Angel Falls in Venezuela; and the Petronas Towers in Malaysia.

The Aftermath

Apart from a bruised ego, Corliss escaped with only a broken leg.  As for his reputation, well…he’s now become a household name.
