Welcome to another awesome Quirk Weekend Music Mix, where QuirkStars share some interesting tunes. Now let’s get your boogie on.
Die Antwoord – I Fink U Freeky (live on Letterman)
Shared by Daniel Neville
Yup. Cape Town’s favourite zef rap-rave trio appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, garnering heaps of international media coverage. Unfortunately there aren’t any audience shots so it comes across slightly one-dimensional.
OK Go - Needing/Getting
Shared by Grant Silverstone
Four guys, 1000 instruments, two miles and a Chevrolet. This new music video for safely middle-of-the-road indie rockers OK Go blurs the line between music video and advertisement. Definitely worth a watch.
John Talabot - Last Land
Shared by Ben Brouckaert
Easily one of the best new electronic artists around. This Spanish House-but-not-House producer has just released a widely acclaimed album ƒin which you need to get your hands on.
Father John Misty - Hollywood Forever Cemetary Sings
Shared by Gareth le Grange
After his three year drumming stint with Seattle’s Fleet Foxes, celebrated muso Joshua Tillman has again gone solo, this time under the name Father John Misty. Strong, joyful vocals and more Folk music than you can shake a stick at. Listen to his newest track in exchange for submitting your email address on Pitchfork.
Modeselektor in Cape Town
Shared by Jason Warner
Yeah, you read right. The Berlin IDM duo will play a show at the upcoming Design Indaba on Friday 2 March 2012 at Cape Town’s City Hall. Expect a great party and more than a few QuirkStars in attendance.
Tallest Man on Earth – CTICC @ 8PM
Shared by Scott Gray
Critically acclaimed Swedish Folk artist Kristian Matsson, also known as The Tallest Man on Earth, is playing at the Cape Town Convention Centre this evening. If you haven’t heard him before, you’re missing out. Unfortunately tickets are sold out so get hold of the tunes if you’re going miss out.
That’s it for another Quirk Weekend Music Mix. We hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as we have, and don’t forget to share your weekly tunes in the comment field below!
