We've all heard the earworm that is Carly Rae Jepsen’s, 'Call Me Maybe'. With 205 million YouTube hits, it’s one of 2012's biggest videos and has, as a result, spawned a number of parodies.
There was the Star Wars parody, The Key of Awesome version, and now internet comedian, Steve Kardynal has done one. Using internet chat service Chatroulette, Kardynal, bikini-clad, videos himself dancing to 'Call Me Maybe' while recording his chat partner reactions. Those reactions range from puzzlement, shock, laughter, and people joining in sing-a-long.
What is particularly unexpected and totally remarkable is the number of tough looking guys who, after some stoic regard, inevitably break down and join in the chorus.
Let’s look at the numbers: 17 million views in 7 days, 242 000 likes and only 1800 dislikes.
Steve Kardynal has made himself and YouTube famous by parodying music content in original ways. Evidently, he’s a man who understands YouTube, and how to please his audience with content that’s fun and silly.
