Viral Video: What If Pixar Made The Expendables 2?

No one can deny the testosterone-fuelled appeal of the The Expendables and its now burgeoning franchise status. Even though injected with copious amounts of ‘cheese’, and contrived beyond measure, the tongue-in-cheek air surrounding the flick (seemingly spurred on by the very muscle-bound geriatrics and action actor upstarts that make up its cast), the film is good fun, but can make fun of itself and that’s the best part.

Here’s the official trailer:

And now, in the tradition of all that wonderful nonsense this particular action-drenched contribution in celluloid brings, an equally nonsensical, infinitely genius mind has introduced, online, The Expendables 2 repackaged - in the guise of some of our most beloved Pixar characters.

With 272, 315 views in five days, 3, 739 Likes and 652 Dislikes, this adorable take on a film so obviously opposite to what Pixar would ever produce, drips with that delicious tongue-in-cheekery that permeates the original, but on a another level all-together.

The scene selection, and the editing and dubbing prowess, in my amateur opinion, deems this video’s explosive popularity totally understandable. It’s a delightful exercise in creativity and another classic jab at a popular culture space that continually threatens to become painfully repetitive.

What do you think? Clever and fun, or just plain wrong? Let us know...
