Wait until you see Volvo’s recent online campaign contribution.
The advertisement features the intrepid world champion high-liner, Faith Dickey, as she crosses a tightrope tied to two speeding Volvo trucks. The campaign is an effort undertaken by Volvo in light of the eminent launch of their new Volvo FH heavy truck series.
In the provocatively titled ‘Volvo Trucks - Ballerina Stunt’ video, Faith stumbles and nearly falls in her initial attempt. With the trucks accelerating and time against her, she swiftly gets back up on line, manages to maintain her balance against the strong wind and crosses the line seconds before the two trucks enter a tunnel.
See it for yourself:
The stunt, filmed on an unopened highway in Croatia, was set up to show the precise handling of the new Volvo FH. It was filmed under the expert guidance of Hollywood stunt director Peter Pedrero (the stunt guru that brought us some breathtaking work in James Bond, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean, to name a few) and Academy Award nominated director, Henry Alex Rubin.
The ‘Volvo Trucks - Ballerina Stunt’, was introduced to YouTube on the 15th of August and has, to date, garnered a staggering 5,538,408 views, and a tally of 11,712 Likes, 2,285 comments and 834 Dislikes.
I must say, after hearing Faith explain what she will be embarking on, in the first few seconds of the video, I had some doubts and a rogue thought deeming this woman as slightly unstable (notions that were seemingly mirrored by the worry and dismay shown by the doctor on the scene). But, I guess it’s daring people like these, engaging in outrageous stunts like this, that make sure we have enough viral video fun to keep us going. Great campaign in my view…what are your thoughts?
