Quirk Weekend Music Mix

by Nash Sprenger

2012/09/28

Hi there! Welcome to another harmonious instalment of our beloved Quirk Weekend Music Mix straight outta Jozi. It is here, every week that our inimitable QuirkStars share the choice tracks they’ve discovered, and come to love.

Before we dive straight in, though, don’t forget to tune into the much-loved 2Oceansvibe Radio, where the Quirk Weekend Music Mix will be featured on The Premier Show with Seth Rotherham & Bruce Good between 10am and 1pm on Fridays. And don’t forget, you can catch the audio stream over at 2Oceanvibe’s website.

That’s it for introductions. Let’s get to the music!

Lana Del Rey – Ride

Shared by Tish Amos

The American songbird is back with a beautiful new track, almost as pretty as ‘Video Games’. The melodies truly haunt and the girl continues to impress with her honey-lined vocals. Give it a listen:

Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band - Devils look like Angels

Shared by Tish Amos

With a band name like that, would you not expect delicious drawl-driven, mid-western shtick-laden, guitar twang perfection? Yes, you damn well would. Enjoy!

The X Factor UK 2012 - Lucy Spraggan's Audition

Shared by Dino Oratis

Lucy Spraggan - she isn’t famous, she’s auditioning for X Factor, quite plain-looking and nothing particularly special, at first glance. Then she starts singing. It smacks of Lily Allen, but in the comedy-song tradition. We could be witnessing the birth of a star here. Great stuff!

That’s it for now. We hope you thoroughly enjoyed this week’s Quirk Weekend Music Mix. And remember, we’re all about sharing, and so we’d like to know what you are listening to. Please, share!
