That's My Kind of Squirrel

by Katharina Scholtz

Yay for extreme humour! This viral shows us the ultimate punishment for rude phone etiquette. I found it while reading the blog for eSquared Fashion, local online personality Eric Edelstein’s funky  t-shirt store.

The ad demonstrates an effective advertising technique, with Kyocera opting for almost a ‘cause campaign’ rather than trying a direct sell of their cellphone services. People who answer their phones at inappropriate times irritate us all, and Kyocera positioned themselves on our side of the frustration with their slogan: “Dial Responsibly”.

The fact that this character decided to show such disrespect also means that we can laugh at his suffering with no guilt, which is why this kind of humour really worked for me here. All in all I give this ad a B- with viral potential. I have to mention though, that what would get me really excited is if Kyocera could start selling that attack trained squirrel.
