GoogTube?

by Smallz Mancotywa

Rob recently posted about Google's acquisition of YouTube, but have a look at this video of the YouTube owners, taken after Google gobbled up their business.

Those YouTube fella's sure do look kinda high don't they? But with $1.65bn in the bank, they can afford to be for the rest of their lives.

Have a look at some of the comments under the video too. Google's "Do no Evil" (This pay-off line/ motto is sometimes laughable) reputation is starting to wear thin as they face the realities of being a super large corporation. It’s not the 1st time I have heard people reckon that the difference between Microsoft and Google is not that great anymore as they both enjoy dominating their capital ventures even if it is not their core business. (ie. Go big or go home)

It will be interesting to see how this works out with regards to the possibility of copyright infringement and introducing paid video to YouTube. Personally, I think Google are about 1 year late on this acquisition. They missed the passion and energy that went into creating YouTube and soon it will be all about the dollars which may stifle the original purpose of the website. Who says another "king or 2" will not arise to stomp YouTube into obscurity through sheer ingenuity and creativity. Google

paying such a price

means they have to get their return somehow and this generally has a negative effect on the top class originality and vision. Google’s plans with YouTube will determine how high their "evil-ometer" has risen in recent years.
