Five Tips for Your Quirk Interview

Is ‘QuirkEview’ taking the portmanteau a little far?
1). Dress: Unless you want Rob to laugh at you, there’s no need to go renting a tux, (although we’d definitely remember you forever for doing that!) but there’s no harm in creating a good first impression either. So keep the boardies and bare feet for your first day and stick to something a little more on the formal side.
2). Preparation: When your prospective team leader, or Stokes, asks you “So what do you know about eMarketing?” my recommendation would be to have a snappy succinct answer at the ready. Get your Google on, subscribe to our newsletter, do some research, browse our site – maybe take a look at some of the fantastic resources that Manners (among others) has spent many hours putting together for, well, your benefit really.
Tell Timmy you were a pirate in your last life, you like magic and that you worked on RAG (only if it’s true). Manners has a penchant for miniature Dobermans, Janine for Pugs and vegetarians and you can usually get around Rob Rankin (the boss of all things HR) with a hug. Watch out for Heidi she bites – bring cake. If your interviewer is none of these, it’s probably best to get some inside info by checking out our team profiles.
4). Attitude is everything, but so is sincerity: If you know nothing about the ins and outs of eMarketing, tell the truth. You’re dealing with the experts and they will quickly realize if you’re spouting a lot of hot air. Plus, you’ll be hooked up to a polygraph machine as you walk in the door.
5). Don’t over think it: Your QuirkEview (I had to use it once) will be unlike any other interview you sit through. You might get tested on your vocabulary, quizzed on your cricket know-how or asked to juggle. (We’re not called Quirk for nothing.)
Nerves will get you nowhere and it is best that you relax and enjoy the experience of meeting someone who (hopefully) is passionate about the same things that you are.

post a commentThe craziest interview I ever had was for a company in the UK called Universal Group (I dont think they are still around). In the interview, you had to sell them an item in the room in 5min, as well as pretent you were auditioning for the role of "chicken" in a play and show off your skills..absolutely madness. But good fun and humility go a long way in an interview. :)

I can quite honestly say that this post is right on the button! As a QuirkStar been and gone, I still remember my interview and the awesome people that made up my days as a QuirkStar. Rankin can most definitely be won over with a hug, Stokes will try to befuddle you somehow so stay calm and chilled! Janine is a rock (and a dynamite size package of softy, no matter how hard-ass she appears to be), and Manners... Well, she's a queen sized angel with a burning halo! You cannot go wrong with Quirk, so if you are looking to get on board... GOOD LUCK!!!
