OK, so let me start at the beginning. I recently found myself picking up a book by the name of "The Cult of the Amateur" by Andrew Keen.
The topic of this book is not what this post is about, but rather the realisation that I gained while reading it. As I was reading, I found myself wanting to find out more about the quotes and topics being referred to. Being an eMarketer (and spending way too much time behind a computer), I am far more used to reading blog posts and articles on the net. These articles generally have links from key aspects or quotes within the article. All it takes to find out more is a mere click. As I was reading the book I found it quite frustrating not being able to “click here for more info”.
How dependant are we on the convenience that the internet has provided us with?
Is it possible that we are becoming too accustomed to the convenience that the "magical" innovation has provided us with.
If you don't know something or want to know more on a topic, Google it - don't bother going to your local library. Do you need to order something, don’t pick up the phone - send an enquiry through the website. Banking? Don't bother about standing in queue's waiting for service - just go online.
And the best part is, you don't even need to be sitting at a computer, you can do it on your phone anytime, anyplace…
