Top marks for this Canadian viral done by Ogilvy advertising for Becel margarine. It has all the elements of a good viral. Humorous in a satirical way, while captivating enough to want to make you keep watching to find out what it’s about.
The part I like most about it is the absolute drama played out by the two people stuck on the escalator, and the music that plays when the electrician gets stuck on the other escalator - it is so fitting! The humour and melodramatic nature of it makes the viral a viral.
This is by far the best margarine advert I have ever seen, and I think South Africa’s Flora Margarine should take some tips. It is a clever way of emphasising the importance of your heart, and how lazy we have become over the years, which of course jeopardises our health.
On the more socially responsible side of, it encourages people to eat healthier (through buying Becel margarine), and includes a call to action (signing up for their offer of a free personal trainer and more) - clearly for those who need it more!
