So I'm sure that you were all shocked at the news about Yahoo and Google teaming up on paid search advertising… Well here is Microsofts "In-your-face" comeback to that failed deal with Yahoo.
I'm sure you all know that Microsoft purchased 1.6% of Facebooks shares for $240 million last year, well now they are stepping up and grabbing another opportunity. Facebook and Microsoft revealed the other day that their agreement has been extended to include search and search advertising on Facebook.
Facebook doesn't currently offer Web search to users but with the introduction of the new agreement, a Live search box will allow users to scour the web without leaving their beloved social network site.
This deal will allow Microsoft to break into the Search field from another angle without having to "reward" its users through cashback, kickbacks and other incentive programs.
A good strategy, since Facebook has such a large user base, but how many people will honestly switch from using their favorite search engine to Live, simply because its on their Facebook profile?
PS. I'm sure that you have heard about Facebooks completely new layout, but if you haven't seen it yet, sign into your profile and then click on this www.new.facebook.com.
I must say that I'm the same when it comes to search... I generally just open up a new tab and go to Google...

Personally, i find those search boxes useless -- just open another tab in your browser.
