Friday Fact Box - Online Advertising Spend

by Katharina Scholtz

So it's all happening online, but if you're smart enough to be reading this then you know that already. For this week's Friday Fact Box, I thought it would be useful to take a look at the latest surging figures about online ad spend (all directly quoted). Happy statistics Friday!

From eMarketer Online ad Spend Holding Strong May 2008

  • For the full year 2007, online ad revenues totaled $21.2 billion, (26% higher than 2006)
  • The IAB and PwC said that Q4 2007 Internet advertising revenues reached $5.9 billion, the highest ever for a single quarter and 24% higher than the same period in 2006
  • As in prior years, consumer advertisers were the largest category of Internet advertising spending, at 55% of 2007 full-year revenues, up from 52% from the full year 2006

Online Ad Spend is growing much faster than offline ad spend.
