The Bear Trap

by Rainer Schmid

You know when you watch one of those video's that leaves you wondering what to expect? This is one of them.

I can guarantee that every guy was completely glued to the screen while watching this one (the first sign of a good viral). And then, just when you think you're going to see something, and it's going to be one of those NSFW beauties…WHAM!

It takes you by surprise and you sit there thinking "WTF is going on here?" (another sign that this is a good viral – it's completely grabbed your attention). The Danish Cancer Society aptly chose this moment to come to your aid and give you the message: "Tanning can kill you". Their logo also lingers on the screen just long enough for everything to seep in and take effect (yet another characteristic of a good viral – you know who it's about).

Hopefully you then have the realisation they're aiming for - which is that tanning causes cancer, and cancer will take you by surprise like the bear trap sun bed. Now I get it… (WHAM! Another characteristic of a good viral – the message is effectively communicated to you).

These days we need to be aware of global warming and a deteriorating Ozone layer, so it's always a good idea to keep an eye out for suspicious moles, sunspots or the dreaded lump that’s not meant to be there. Finally - the last characteristic of a good viral - people are talking about the topic/message/brand and telling everyone else about it.

You can read more about Cancer here.

Brilliant, just goes to show you what the price of beauty really is.
