Discomgoogolation - Cool Word for the Day

by Janine Carpenter

Half of Britons are said to suffer from discomgoogolation. (Image via Flickr, by Eliot Phillips, under CC)

I must admit that online social behavior absolutely fascinates me and I got all geeky when I heard this new word: Discomgoogolation.

Someone has finally named the feelings of anxiety and distress experienced by an individual when they are unable to log on and get, what I like to call, their online fix.

The term comes from discombobulate [dis·com·bob·u·late], which means to be thrown into a state of confusion + the [nice] addition of the word Google – which gives you: Discomgoogolation.

Cool enough to share – I thought ;).

According to a survey cited on Reuters almost half of Britons suffer from this condition - I wonder what percentage of South Africans fall into this same camp. You can read more about the condition here.
