Sites are STILL cloaking Google (and getting away with it!)

by Rob Stokes

Through a Google Alert on “Quirk eMarketing”, I picked up this site: http://xecogiyide.blogspot.com/index.html (purposefully not linked, I don’t want to help this punk) which uses a sneaky javascript redirect to take you to www.people-search.com

Now other than the fact that this spammer ripped off our content to build his cloak site, it really surprises and irritates me that the people-search.com site hasn’t been blacklisted by Google. Whilst this particular cloak site seems to have been dropped, the main site is still gunning away in the index.

Any SEO worth their salt knows this tactic is STRONGLY against Google’s webmaster guidelines. So why don’t they ban them?

Perhaps it’s because this site seems like a strong Adwords buyer and the big G probably makes a fair amount of cash out of them and therefore don’t want to tick them off. Conspiracy theory? Perhaps. Matt Cutts?

I am typing this from a lounger under the cool shade of a tree on the banks of the Hartebeesport Dam just South West of Tshwane. I love holidays and I love wireless connectivity. Hope you're enjoying yours :).
