Good service is hard to find

by Santi van Zyl

I've been brooding on this Thank You post for a while now as I wanted it to really express just how grateful we are to the people who helped us make the WebPR+ conference such a success. We’ve already said thanks to the delegates, speakers and QuirkStars who made it happen, but I wanted to say a special thank you to all those involved behind the scenes.

Organising a conference or event whether big or small is no joke and finding companies to provide quality services are not always as easy as it may sound. We ran into a few problems with one or two companies but the positive experience we had with others more than made up for them. That is why I would like to single out the businesses that went over and above just providing a good service. I would personally recommend that you use these companies if you ever need their kind of services!

So, without further ado, a huge round of applause goes to:

Azure-Blu Print
Les Hall, from Azure-Blu Print specialises in printing on corporate, promotional gifts and industrial equipment and did the printing on the wrist gel support thingys that have proven to be exceptionally popular. We only discovered Les at the last minute so he worked exceptionally hard the weekend prior to the conferences to be able to drop them off late on Sunday afternoon – what a star.

St John's Instant Services
St John’s specialise in badge engraving, stamps, foiling, corporate and selected gifts, printing of all stationery, signage, number plates, laminating, screen-printing, vinyl lettering etc.
Kym, from St. Johns did the epoxy stickers for the delegates files, she also recommended Les (and for that we will be forever grateful). I just want to mention here that trying to find someone that did stickers with epoxy covers was a mission and a half.  We found a company and were dealing with them via email for about 2 weeks but I could never get hold on them during the day via phone when I needed to discuss something with them. They had different cell numbers, all just ringing. I eventually got hold of someone who arranged for us to meet so that we could see samples. She never turned up, never phoned to cancel! This happened more than once. I ended up emailing them saying that we won't be using their services anymore. To this day I have never heard from them again – mmm wonder how many customers they’ve lost because of service like that?
You will find Kym and her posse in a tiny treasure trove of a shop in the Shell House in Waterkant Street, Cape Town.

Top Copy
Vincent, oh Vincent – I think Sarah A would have had a nervous breakdown if it wasn’t for you! The print job for the Cape Town conference somehow got lost in translation (gasp) and if it weren’t for Vincent and the team at Top Copy we would have been up a creek and without a paddle. Vincent worked until 9pm on Sunday night to get the work done – service like this is so scarce.

Merry Pak & Print
We also received fantastic service from Maria and Madeline at Merry Pak who supplied the lanyards and bags as well as the screen-printing on the bags. Madeline made sure we got our bags in half the lead time given for normal orders. We are truly thankful to them and will make use of them as much as we need to.

Khokela
We got the gorgeous files and pretty pink and blue pens from Roxy and Mervina from Khokela. Their speedy and efficient service really made them stand out.

Rentnet
On exceptionally short notice the folks from Rentnet came on board to do the recording at the Jozi conference so the event could be podcasted - Thanks Joan!

To everyone that made this event a success, thank you and bravo!
