Sorry about the title, I really couldn't help myself. As many of you may know, at Quirk we take our cricket pretty seriously. The office is full of obsessives, regularly arguing the merits of the current South African squad, who should be dropped, who should be selected, and who should bat where. In short, we’re a real bunch of armchair coaches.
So it should come as no surprise that the World Cup has caused more than it’s fair share of excitement. We have a private league on the Sky Sports Fantasy Cricket League, (which I’m fairly confident I'll win), and we’re all busy running around, debating which team South Africa will face in the finals.
So far the Windies are the only team that have beaten a test playing opponent. Sadly we missed the first innings of the game, as we were busy crushing incuBeta in an indoor cricket world cup of our own. Australia’s thrashing Scotland barely counts, and Kenya’s 7 wicket victory over Canada has hardly gotten anyone too excited. Although I confess most of us still watched every ball of the game.
At present, the fantasy league has thrown up some interesting results. We all know Mike Stopforth is a brilliant blogger, but none of realised that he was such a shocking cricket selector. And while Mike languishes at the bottom of the pool, Rob, in 7th, is going on as if he has just single handedly won the world cup. Of course, it's early days, and fortunes can change. So, until then, I plan to sit back, crack a few frosties, and see how things develop.

There's a lot I could say here Nick, but I think "Sour Grapes" pretty much sums it up.

Yes, incuBeta seems to have produced an acidic batch of whine from all those sour grapes.

The only "crushing" you did, Andrew, was that of beer cans from the sidelines.
How about a rematch? I realise this idea is something on an unknown quantity to Quirk - seeing as the last time we beat you and won the best of 3 series, you guys abandoned the last game faster than the French abandoned the front lines in the 1940's. I suppose you could argue that you were gracious in defeat at 2-0, 3-0 would probably have felt like a little like roadkill under the enormous wheels of the incuBeta cricket machine.
We look forward to your inclusion in the Quirk lineup for our next game. We really will be disappointed if you're not there to personally back up Quirk's supposed cricketing authority.
Over up,
Nick
