According to this BBC news article sent to me by The Scott, I am a Gaylord.
Classic!
Obviously it’s not a real article (so don’t worry mum!). To change the name in the article just change the name in the URL – don’t forget the dot between the first and last name.
Now when we first saw this, the first thing that came in to the minds of the eMarketing jaded Scott and myself was that this was a cunning piece of viral marketing by the BBC. But is it really?
It’s the same debate as the Volkswagen Terrorist ad which caused a lot of controversy and VW denied any knowledge of its production.
If it is an intended commercial campaign it is sheer brilliance. Only the greatest viral campaigns can slide the brands message into your head without you even releasing that you’ve been a part of a well thought out marketing ploy.
Or it could be some techie kid with a crazy idea and too much time.
I’ll let you decide… either way, I almost cried with laughter and quickly sent it to as many suckers as I could think of!
Wow. Thanks for letting us know Mike and i must say I am surprised. But maybe I shouldn't be, I guess it was unlikely that the old BBC could be that far ahead of the pack!
